On January 28, 2024, Trinity United Church voted unanimously to become an Affirming Congregation.
To celebrate this promising and faithful step forward in a progressive direction, Trinity United Church will be hosting an Affirming Celebration Service on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. This is scheduled intentionally for the day following the Newmarket Pride Parade during Pride Month. Trinity United Church will join over 300 other congregations who are Affirming Churches as part of Affirm United, a proud partner of The United Church of Canada, for the support of all gender identities and Sexual orientations.
The Affirming Celebration Service will be located in the sanctuary of Trinity United Church at 461 Park Avenue (at Main Street) in Newmarket, across from the Newmarket Public Library. There are various options for parking:
The Municipal Parking Lot beside the library;
The side streets in the subdivision of homes to the west of Trinity United Church;
The east side of Main Street behind the stores near the Newmarket Community Centre and Lions Hall at 200 Doug Duncan Drive.
During this celebration, Rev. George Moore will be sharing a reflection of our congregation's journey toward becoming an official Affirming Congregation. Rev. George Moore is a retired United Church Minister, is a member of Trinity's Affirming Church Committee, and currently living with his husband in Barrie.
Following the Celebration in the sanctuary, light refreshments will be served in Trinity Hall - please join us!
