Rev. Sydney Elias

Minister

My journey in ministry began in Guyana where I was born. After I completed my training at the United Theological College of the West Indies in Kingston Jamaica, I served as a Minister of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas, Guyana Conference. In my time with the Methodist Church, I served as a congregational minister and later as secretary of the Guyana Conference. My family and I migrated to Canada in July of 2004. In Canada, I served United Church congregations in Scarborough, Norwich, Kitchener and Caledon.  I have a deep love for God and people, and I am dedicated to, and passionate about the ministry of the Church. My focus in ministry has always been to reach people with the Gospel and to help congregations to grow as communities of faith centred on worship, education, fellowship, mission and service.
I am married to Celena, and we have three children, Dominic, Imani and Shanecia. I am an avid reader, I enjoy gardening and going for long walks.
